Last day on land

We woke to the view of our boat - The Radiance of the Sea - from our bedroom window.  James was excited.

The view of our hotel ( long blue building) from our cabin

We drove up to Exit Glacier which, if it had been the first glacier we had seen, would have been even more impressive.  As it is , it is still lovely .  the walk is fairly level to start with then a gentle uphill to the toe of the glacier.  We could see about 2 % of the whole of the Harding Icefield.

Salmon watching was next.  About 6 miles from Seward is a popular viewing spot for seeing salmon swim upstream.  We saw a few successful attempts before heading back to Seward to hand in our car and check in.

Handing over the luggage was a low key affair – a couple of men in a shed – but they seemed to know what they are doing.  Check in was easy with no queuing – same with the security screening.  And it was onto the boat.  Our room was not ready until 1 pm so we had lunch in the Windjammer buffet.  The room is actually roomier that I expected – I had expected a bit of a shoebox.

There is a lot of storage for us to decant into with cupboards and shelves and storing our bags under the bed.  We did a reccy of the ship and James instantly knew his way around – we are now relying on him for directions.  Mini golf is on the 12 floor so we all had a game – James and I tying for last!

James and Andrew went to the arcade for a few games .  Luckily we can put a dollar limit on James’ Seapass Card so he can go there without us.  I actually went to the gym for the first workout in two weeks ( aagh) .  Drinks and early dinner before the muster drill before we set sail.  The food was delicious so I think a regular visit to the gym will be in order!

View of the Centrum

Our first drinks ( but not our last)

The Dall porpoises kept us company as we exited the Bay – too busy enjoying them to take photos - sorry.
